Is the gluten free diet the “cure all” for celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity?

Sep 2020 | Autoimmune Disorders, Health and Wellness

The gluten free diet is currently the ONLY treatment for celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity. At this time, there are no other options. The diet is a management tool not a cure.

Keep in mind, these disorders are complex. First, it’s important to identify whether you have celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. The distinguishing factor is celiac disease is an autoimmune condition. Reducing inflammation and ensuring gut health are two primary goals when caring for individuals with autoimmune conditions. This will help reduce the risk of developing additional autoimmune disorders. It is important to note, reducing inflammation through diet is also beneficial to the general population. Here are a few naturally gluten free ingredients to add to your cooking to reduce inflammation: berries, dark leafy greens, broccoli, tomatoes, avocado, turmeric, nuts, fish, olive oil, dark chocolate, ginger, garlic and green tea.
